About Me
I'm Kelsey Geiger, a 20-year old woman in computer science who is working in robotics.
I'm huge on maker culture- I've been a maker in some form or another for as long as I can remember. When I was little my dad would let me use his woodworking shop to build simple things. When wood was too limited of a material, I got creative with spare cardboard boxes, rubber bands, salvaged springs, and a lot of tape.
Now, I've gotten a technology upgrade. I'm writing code to do physics, make robots work, draw images to the screen after generating them, and learn. I'm also getting into 3D printing and CAD. I hope to hone these skills in the future to help me design and build robotic systems for future work.
I have a drive to work in more theoretical things as well- the feeling of discovery or invention is what keeps me going, what drives me to do more, better. I am excited to participate in the DREU as my first research project, and am looking forward to doing some real work with real impacts in this area.
I'm also big on LGBT+ activism, and I'm proud to be out as both trans and lesbian. I work to spread awareness and educate others about my experience and the issues we face.

I'm attending California State University Channel Islands, and I'm going into my fourth year. I'm working on a B.S. in Computer Science, and hope I'll be able to apply for a B.S. in Mechatronics when the new program is launched at CSU Channel Islands in Fall of 2018. Given the timeline for it, I plan to graduate in the year 2020, after six years of college- worth it for a second Bachelor's in a field I'm increasingly more interested in.
